Lecture To Discuss Role Of The Entrepreneur In Promoting Prosperity

The relationship between entrepreneurship, economic freedom and prosperity will be the subject of the next lecture in the Politics, Law and Economics Lecture Series at ³Ô¹ÏÍø.
Dr. Stephan F. Gohmann, BB&T Professor of Free Enterprise and director of the John H. Schnatter Center for Free Enterprise at the University of Louisville, will give the lecture, “Economic Freedom and Entrepreneurship,” at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the Hollis Room on the FSC campus. The lecture, sponsored by the Center for Free Enterprise at FSC, is free and open to the public.
Dr. Gohmann will discuss the role the entrepreneur plays in enhancing human well-being by focusing on the needs of people in the marketplace rather than relying on government favoritism. He argues for the freedom to allow people to use their creativity for the betterment of others.
Dr. Gohmann has been a member of the economics faculty at the University of Louisville since 1988. He is a graduate of Indiana University and earned his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. He teaches courses in the economics of strategy, health economics and labor economics and is the author of numerous scholarly articles.
