My teaching philosophy involves five things; enthusiasm for subject matter, connection with students, flexibility, respect and fairness. My teaching incorporates varied learning styles with the hope that students can succeed using their individual styles. If a student can truly understand and apply a concept and not just memorize and repeat it back, I feel learning was successful. A good teacher must be prepared, organized, a positive role model and always trying to improve.
Biography
I am originally from Massachusetts but lived 12 years in New Hampshire prior to moving to Florida in July 2014.I received my Bachelor's in Nursing from Boston College. I received my Masters of Science with a concentration as a gerontological nurse practitioner as well as my PhD in nursing health promotion from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. My research interests are type 2 diabetes, insomnia and the Hispanic population.
I have over 25 years of nursing experience. I have worked in many areas of nursing; intensive care, medical-surgical, home care, school nursing, telephone triage and travel nursing. I have over 10 years of teaching experience and my love is teaching the introductory nursing courses such as pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessment, nursing fundamental and labs.
