Timothy Burns, MSN, RN, CEN
Instructor of Nursing
A sign that sits prominently in my office synthesizes my teaching philosophy - "If I'm wrong educate me, don't belittle me." I believe each student I encounter brings with them a unique personality and history and that my form of instruction needs to vary to best serve all. Using multiple modalities of instruction I strive to meet each student at the level that they are at, helping them to understand the material being taught in their own way, enriching their college experience and helping them grow into the next generation of registered nurses.
Biography
I bring over thirty years of patient care and education to the FSC community. Beginning in the late 1980's, I have worked as both a firefighter/paramedic as well as a registered nurse, caring for patients across the life spectrum. My nursing career has been primarily in the emergency department setting, working in both a Level II trauma center as well as a smaller community ED specializing in general emergency patients, psychiatric emergencies, and substance abuse emergencies. Prior to joining the faculty at ³Ô¹ÏÍø I taught as an Instructor of Nursing in the undergraduate nursing program at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Education
